Mark Leake, the founder and owner of Authentic Wine Brands, has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years covering many areas including managing and owning restaurants, wine sales and distribution, marketing and brand ambassadorship.
Mark has worked for distribution companies as well as for family owned wineries. Mark’s local and international experience includes Singlefile Wines, Pol Roger Champagne, Laurent Perrier Champagne, Yalumba, McHenry Hohen, Vasse Felix and Brown Brothers.
Mark has a strong network both in Perth and nationally. He has a strong record of growing sales and distribution and has won several industry awards over the years including and not limited to:
- 2016 Western Australian Wine Rep of the Year for Samuel Smith & Son
- 2016 finalist National Wine Rep of the Year Samuel Smith & Son
- 2015 New Zealand Sauvalanche largest sales growth and distribution for New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc
- 2007 d’Arenberg Western Australian Sales Person of the year
Chalari (Greek for relaxed) draws on the ethos of being relaxed and chilled, and from Alexi’s Greek heritage. Alexi’s Dad was always one for sitting around with a coffee or a drink and watching the world go by. All Chalari wine is small batch, small parcels of grapes and selected from the best vineyards within WA. The wine is made ‘garagiste’ style at a small winery setup.
To let the fruit speak for itself in the wine, intervention is only used where necessary.
Unnecessary fining and additions are not performed on the wine.
Alexi made the Top 50 Young Guns of Wine in 2020.
Morlet Margaret River Wines are family owned, producing single vineyard wines, which all come from their small boutique vineyard at 205 Clews Rd, Cowaramup. Morlet are situated at the headwaters of the Willyabrup River at the top of the Willyabrup Valley a couple of kilometres from the first winery in the Margaret River District, Vasse Felix.
Particular attention to soil health, and avoiding intrusive chemical inputs, provides the great fruit you taste in Morlet wines. This is complemented by refined French or American oak and elegant winemaking to delight your palate. No compromise here, just an enthusiastic dedication to providing unique, sophisticated, hand crafted wines you’ll love.
The origin of Rockcliffe was an 18 acre expanse of apple orchards planted early in the 1900’s in the rich Scotsdale Valley region of Denmark in the Great Southern, Western Australia. In the late 1980’s, a local family acquired the property for its fertile soils and position for long afternoon sunshine with cool ocean breezes. It was christened Matilda’s Meadow and the planting of dry grown vines commenced. The Pinot and Chardonnay vines were the first planted in the district in 1987.
The Rockcliffe brand reflects their love of the ocean and how important it is to the vineyard. Located less than 15km from the Southern Ocean , Rockcliffe are gifted with sea breezes all summer to cool the vineyard, creating the perfect conditions for the slow ripening, cool climate styles that symbolize the Great Southern.
In 2002 Dr Steve Hall, a geologist, became the new owner and, under his enthusiastic direction, Matilda’s Estate underwent a refurbishment of the Cellar Door, Art Gallery & Restaurant. 2007 resulted in the building of a brand new winery facilitating the production of 50,000 cases of wine per year and signalled a new stage in the evolution of the brand and business.
In 2013 Matilda’s Meadow became “Rockcliffe” after the stretch of 100m high granite rock cliffs that dominate the eastern end of Denmark’s main bay. The same granite lies beneath the winery and gives distinctive characteristics to the wine.
